Dar Abad is a mountain valley on the northeastern edge of Tehran, shaped by seasonal water flow on the southern slopes of the Alborz Mountains. Originally a natural drainage corridor, it has become one of Tehran’s most rugged and least-developed hiking areas, valued for its direct access, open terrain, and steady elevation gain.
The trail follows a rocky streambed with minimal infrastructure, making it feel more exposed and natural than most hiking routes close to the city. As elevation increases, vegetation thins, views open toward Tehran, and the landscape gradually turns alpine.
Today, Dar Abad is used year-round by hikers, trail runners, and mountaineers. Its appeal lies in its raw character: a clear valley, continuous ascent, and a direct transition from urban edge into untouched mountain terrain.
